Hi, I'm Karen Thakuria, founder of From Doing To Being.


I understand what it's like to put other people first and feel like you've lost yourself. To be constantly busy yet never feel like you're doing enough. To feel guilty for resting and selfish for doing anything just for you.


Because I've been there too.


I once lived in a state of constant doing. Always achieving, always moving, always trying to meet everyone else's expectations. It wasn't until I experienced my own period of overwhelm and disconnection that I truly understood the exhaustion that comes from living this way.


This personal experience, combined with my clinical training and experience, led me to develop my approach. My work is about creating meaningful self-care practices and routines that truly support you.

My background and approach

I'm a qualified Occupational Therapist with a clinical foundation in mental health, built over the past 14 years.  


"Occupational therapy is a client-centred health profession concerned with promoting health and wellbeing through occupation" (WFOT, 2012) 


Occupational Therapists work in many settings, including mental health.  We're specialists in supporting you to find the meaning in the things you do every day, finding out what's most important to you, and identifying solutions to any barriers that stop you doing what's meaningful.


Occupational therapy is a science based health and social care profession that's regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).  


My approach is trauma-informed, compassion focused therapy-informed and values-led, recognising that true wellbeing comes from aligning your daily life with what matters most to you.


I combine evidence-based therapeutic techniques with practical, grounded tools that help you:

- Slow down without feeling guilty

- Reconnect with your values and desires

- Make choices from intention rather than obligation

- Create sustainable ways of being that meet both your responsibilities and support your well-being

My why

Creating this business has been part of my own journey from doing to being. 


I believe deeply in the work we do together because I've experienced its power myself. After so long guiding others to build self-care routines and prioritise their own well-being, I finally started to take my own advice!  


I know the change that comes when we truly care for ourselves.  


It's time to put yourself first and I'm here to support you every step of the way.
